Vineetha Rallabandi from our group had the pleasure of gathering in Berlin for the 5th Women in Computing Workshop. The half-day workshop was on the topic of ‘Finding Balance’ between Juggling Obligations, Working Domains and Life where inspiring and meaningful talks were presented by the speakers Prof. Neha Kumar (Georgia Tech, USA & SIGCHI President), Prof. Giulia Barbareschi (University of Duisburg-Essen), Carla De Angelis (Ecolab, Vienna), Ghada Helal (Dematic GmbH).
Through inspiring career journeys and deeply personal anecdotes, the speakers offered valuable perspectives on finding equilibrium. The talks explored several critical themes, including:
- Navigating Academia: Strategies for thriving in demanding research environments while overcoming imposter syndrome.
- Career and Motherhood: Honest discussions on harmonizing professional ambitions with family responsibilities.
- Work-Life Integration: Real-world advice and compelling stories about cultivating a sustainable balance between personal well-being and professional growth.
Beyond the inspiring talks, this event was dedicated for fostering mentorship and sharing insights from personal experiences. The inclusive environment— provided space for engaging in conversations for guidance. We look forward to seeing this community next year #wic2027 to grow, connect, and thrive!
